NEW JOURNEY

It was evening time and people were travelling in the train, some were moving towards their dreams, some were travelling to their destination and some were perhaps searching for a new spark or ray in their life, among those thousands of people there was a girl, partly lost in her thoughts .

That girl was none other than our Ruhi, She was sitting there, lost in her book.

The aunty in the front seat had been eyeing her for a while. Clad in floral duppata (shawl) and loaded with bangles that jingled every time she shifted, the woman finally lean forward, her voice loud and cheerful.

"Going to jaipur, beta? "

Ruhi nodded, barely lifting her head from the book,

"Yes."

"Student?"

"Hmm..."

"What are you studying?"

Ruhi hesitated for a second, as for now she don't know what her future beholds, but still she reply with,

"Fashion design."

The woman gasped like she'd announced she was going to mars.

"Fashion! Arey wah! You don't look like one of those city girls though.... where are you from?"

Ruhi tightened her grip on the bag,

"Banaras."

"Banaras! Hey Ram, such a conservative place. And your parents allowed you to go all the way to jaipur alone?"

Ruhi, forced a polite smile.

"They're...... supportive."

She lied, reality was far away from that lie of hers.

The aunty hummed in disbelief, clearly not buying it, but before she could say anything, Ruhi turned towards the window, facing outside and plugged in earphones just to ignore that noisy aunty🥲 and played darshan raval's song as he's her favorite singer.

The woman in front of me hadn't stopped talking since the train had started. Her bangles jingled like alarm bells every time she moved, and her voice had the sharpness of someone who'd been nosy all her life and never met a boundary she didn't want to step over.

Fashion design? She said like it was a disease.

I gave her a thin smile and nodded like a doll. It was easier that way. People like her didn't really want answers - they wanted the sound of their own opinions bouncing off you.

She didn't know anything. Not about how I'd climbed out the bathroom window of my two-story house at 4:30 a.m, bag packed since the night before.

Not about the bruise on my forearm from last week; left by my aunt's bangles.

Not about the way my uncle had looked at me when I told him, I want to study Fashion designing.

"Designing clothes is not for girls like you," he had said, right before throwing my sketchbook.

Girls like me.

Orphans.

Raised like servants.

Fed like strays.

Dreams weren't allowed in that house; they were laughed at first, then slapped, then starved out of you.

The train kept moving. Jaipur was still hours away, but for the first time in years, I was going somewhere that was mine.

And no one could stop me.

I just hope everything would be fine at home, were they searching for me? worried for me ? nahh..probably they would be happy like; ohh bala tali (bad luck went away).

Mahadev, why did this happen to me? The place where I spent my childhood, had so many memories of my mother and father. I had to leave my own house and come here, I don't know what I'll do here if I didn't get the scholarship, I don't even have enough money.

I believe in you mahadev please aap b mumma-papa jaisa mera saath mat chorna (please... don't leave me like mumma-papa did).

God Ruhi stop with this Overthinking of yours, mahadev hai na everything would be alright.

Train reached the jaipur station and I got off the train.

Let's start my new journey, I'm pretty much excited to start a new life here in jaipur.

I have to search for a decent place where I can stay for a few days.

Can I get help from people here, but what if they trouble me knowing I'm alone.

Let's do one thing; I'll do some minor crime and stay in police custody over night, I'll get police protection too.

Hayee Ruhi, tu to ekdum chakachak smart nikli re

(Wow Ruhi, you're soo smart).

Very bad idea ruhi, now be serious and search for some hotel or lounge, if you don't want to become tomorrow's headline.

Ohh, let me introduce you all to my conscience, you'll be meeting her very frequently in the story; because most of the time me and my conscience keep arguing on anything and everything, just like now.

Thanks to mahadev, I found this lounge, let's talk to the receptionist.

I walk up to the help desk, and greet with receptionist of the lounge. She is a beautiful women in her early 30s; she smiled at me as I reached her desk.

"Good evening ma'am. Do you have a reservation?"

"Um, no, I was hoping to book a spot for just couple of days, is there available any?"

"Alright. May I see a valid I'd?"

I handed it over with slightly trembling fingers. She glanced at it, nodded and typed something in.

"You're all set. You'll be in Room 32 down the hall second left."

"Thank you."

She smile again, already turning to the next guest.

I walked away quietly to my room.

First I'll take a good long bath to relax my body, then I would fill my tummy.

I'm super hungry and tired.

After having dinner Ruhi slept so till she wakes up we will see what our Rudransh is doing 😅😜

Rudransh was sitting in his office and anyone can guess by looking at him that he was very angry.

He was shouting on one of his employe for some mistakes in finance report.

"80 lakhs. Missing. From a single report."

He threw the file down onto the table, the pages fanning out like a silent explosion.

"Do you even know what that means in our line of business?"

The junior accountant, barely in his late 20s, stood frozen near the desk; face pale, lips pressed tight, eyes fixed on the floor.

"I - I'm sorry, sir. I double-checked the -"

Rudransh rose from his chair with an unsettling calm.

"Clearly, you didn't check well enough. This isn't a typo in a newsletter, sharma. This is finance. Clients. Auditors. Legal exposure."

"I want a corrected report on my desk by tomorrow morning," he continued, voice low now, but no less threatening.

"And pray I don't call the auditors before that."

"Yes, sir," the man mumbled.

Nearly tripping over himself as he turned to leave.

Rudransh didn't watch him go. He picked up another file from his desk, jaw tight, fingers drumming against the desk.

He hated inefficiency.

Especially when it cost him time.

Or money.

Or control.

This's how Rudransh was, he's an perfectionist and he want everything perfect around him.

A/n: what'll happen when he, who wants everything perfect, meets the girl whose life has never been close to perfect.

After that he attended some meetings and then went to the Rathore mansion, as his mother had strictly told him to not overwork and to come back home early.

He reached the mansion around 9:00 pm.

A/n: yupp guys it is early for our Rudransh as he works for around like 11:00 pm - 12:00 am, huhhhhh after all he is an wattpad hero (eye roll)

"Maa, mhun ghare aagyo

(Maa I'm home)

"Aao betaa, kaiso riyo aaj ro din?"

(Come son, how was your day today)

Before Rudransh can reply Rishi (his younger cousin) said,

"Badi maa bhai ka din to acha hi hoga inke employees ka pucho, aaj kitne logo ko fire kiya"

(Of course bhai's day must have been good — ask his employees, how many people he fired today)

Aviraj (Rudransh's another cousin) too joined them,

"aaa.... Let me guess......"

Aviraj was saying something but Rudransh glare at him and he action to zip his mouth.

"Ok ok enough now don't start you bickering, Rudransh you go and change, then come downstairs for dinner," sunaina said

Rudransh leave to his room after that .

Now the whole Rathore family was present at dining table.

Head chair was occupied by Gayatri singh Rathore, on her right side was her elder son and DIL i.e. Adheesh and Sunaina singh Rathore followed by Rudransh and mishika.

And on her left side was her younger son and DIL i.e. Shreekant and Naina singh Rathore followed by Aviraj and Rishi.

Rest of the chairs were empty in case of any guest visits .

All the elders were silently having their dinner while our mishika (the only daughter in Rathore family) was fighting with Rishi over some sweet dish.

"Rishiiii! ye humara hai"

(Rishiii! this is mine)

"Areey kya humara-tumhara, sab kuch tumhara hi to hai or jo bhi tumhara hai vo humara hai...."

(Hey what yours or mine, everything is yours anyways.... and whatever's yours, is mine too)

With saying this Rishi stuffed his mouth with the dessert.

"Bhaiiiii...." mishika whined to her brother, Rudransh.

"Here take mine."

Rudransh gave her, his piece of dessert, which made her happy.

She showed her tongue to Rishi while enjoying her(Rudransh's) dessert.

This is how Rathore's most of the meals went with their family.

While our Ruhi most of the time, she gets leftovers with taunts and not sweet bickering like Rathore's.
